La lealtà della famiglia di Jack viene messa a dura prova quando Graem rivela il suo pieno coinvolgimento nelle attività dei terroristi. Mentre Sandra deve occuparsi di un Walid colpito duramente dagli altri prigionieri, il Presidente Palmer convoca un incontro con gli uomini del gabinetto per discutere delle drastiche misure politiche suggerite da Thomas Lennox. Morris riceve delle cattive notizie riguardo un suo familiare e McCarthy si adopera in modo che possa catturare l'ingegnere che riconfiguri il detonatore per le quattro bombe rimaste.

Jack: That's hyocine-pentothal. It's a neuro-inflamatory, designed to induce pain. All you have to do to stop me from using it is tell me how to find McCarthy.
Graem: Your guess is as good as mine.
Jack: Two cc's.
Graem: Oh, God!
Jack: Come on, come on. I can take this to seven cc's. You will experience pain I can't even describe. At eight cc's, I run the risk of inducing a heart attack. Grae...make no mistake about it, I will go there if I have to. Please, just tell me what I need to know. Please. I don't want to hurt you.
Graem: You sure about that, Jack?
Jack: You don't want to make me do this, Grae.
Graem: We grew up together, Jack. In all those years, I could never make you do anything you didn't want to do.

Marilyn: No. I've seen what happens when you try and protect people.
